Gallery BOOK ARTS Recreates Leather Bindings for New Oval Office Experience Museum Exhibit
Gallery BOOK ARTS has been chosen to recreate the Leather Bindings from the Oval Office for the interactive New Oval Office Experience Museum Exhibit--- Now open. The exhibit is part of the "People's House" celebration, organized by the White House Historical Association to showcase the decor and history of the White House.
The new museum, located next to the White House, will feature 74 leather bindings that are exact replicas of those in the President's Oval Office including the 30 volume set: Writings of George Washington and 14 Volume set: Teddy Roosevelt, and the Yale History of the United States 20 volume set. Also, a very handsome 10 volume set of the complete works of Nathaniel Hawthorne, bound in deep "Scarlet" Goatskin, aged to a well used patina, providing steeped nuanced touchstones for the experience of the display.
The individual gold titles of each book, and their placement on the shell-topped bookcase niches have been painstakingly and faithfully recreated, with a unique insight Gallery BOOK ARTS brought to the project--- creating items in the very manner Gallery BOOK ARTS has long been relied upon, by the American Presidents, for museum quality artist bindings for Head of State Gifts.
Featured in the exhibit is the iconic, ever-present Artists Binding of "HOBAN: Architect of the White House" which has proudly been displayed center stage at all of President Biden's Meetings, front and center on the coffee table. The ornately gold-tooled green leather binding was a gift to President Biden, after inauguration, from the White House Historical Association, and venerates the shared "Irish" heritage of the Architect and the President. Gallery BOOK ARTS was commissioned for that original.
Thus, the replica is indistinguishable. ...ART, imitates LIFE, imitates ART...
